To save time and money, I decided to put up the textured covering that looks like the popcorn texture. Put up two small pieces last night. This morning, I found them on the floor. :(

The ceiling was washed and rinsed and allowed to air dry. This material is prepasted. It does seem to stick to the ceiling well at first, but then it ends up peeling off.

I'm thinking that I need to coat the ceiling with sizing (sp). This would aid me in having more ability to move the pieces around to get a good seam. With the present prepasted pieces, it is hard to move them around to get a good seam.

I have hung lots of wall coverings before and haven't had the problems that I'm having with this stuff.

My BILaw has the equipment to spray the texture on, but it just doesen't seem feesible for such a small room. There are 9 sections roughly 3'x 3' that needs to be done. The areas are in between wood beams. Thanks for any advice.. Would like to get this project over with before Christmas.

SS, I guess you have a finish on there that is oil based or something. If it were me I would take the stuff back and get my $ back. Get yourself a five gallon of textured paint and use that. In my old house I had plastered ceilings that would constantly have a hairline crack all the way across the room, due to expansion. I put the textured paint on there and you never could notice those cracks again. I just took the paint bucket and dipped a broom into it and then dabbed it on the ceiling, made a real nice pattern.

If you do plan on staying with the panels, I guess you could try applying a product called kilz first. That is supposed to seal anything.

I have put up a sh!tload of wallcoverings.
Just completed a rehab a Dr. office where we used the same type of coving.
Ignore any pre applied paste on wallcoverings.
Go to Sherwin Williams and buy some Heavy Duty clear wallcovering adhesive (about $7/gallon).
Roll it on (either on the surface or the back of the covering) and there ya go.

Kilz is some awesome stuff, but very wicked.Your house will reek from the stuff for a couple days.
Read the label before buying, if you haven't used it before.

Oh yeah, the Kilz....I think the name says it all especially the oil based stuff. Been there almost died there... I use the water based kilz now. It won't make you light headed or dizzeier than you already were.

We figured out why the pieces let go. They were next to the outside wall and the cold outside temps kept it from drying. SO they just let go. Found a product from Home Depot, "Wallpaper paste for pre-pasted wallcoverings" Just doesn't make sense to me, but I guess I gotta try it.

Gotta big break on laminate flooring. Close out special of $1.97 a square foot, normally $3.99. Now to Git-r-done!

You need to seal the ceiling panels with sealer and size.
This gives you slip and and grip also helps if you ever remove it.i have always used alinning paper running in other direction of finishing texture, .
Never use pe pasted on this type of paper as it is to heavy get a good wall paper paste and brush it on.i have jobs over 20 years old still the same as the day i did it.
