I am looking for some help trying to figure out who the manufacturer is of my old sears outboard. I've got the prop apart and need to buy a new prop and shaft for it. The tag on the motor says T-643-15A and 6523582. There is also a plate below it that has 153244 stamped in it. Someone years ago painted over that plate, so not sure if had more info on it.

Any help figuring out what year or make my motor is would be appreciated...

See if you can get the paint off the tag.I believe that it is an Eska built motor.Number prefix would be 217-XXXXX It uses a Tecumseh air cooled powerhead with a water cooled exhaust leg.I'm pretty sure the straight drive gearcase is basically unchanged
for some years.Eska built a lot of private label motors that could be parts doners. These motors are noisy, vibrate, somewhat under powered and
finicky.I would suggest not spending too much on it.If you love to tinker its the motor for you.
