Information Needed

I have a gentleman who wants to sell me his 1989 Concord 20ft fish/ski boat which is fitted with a 1989 Johnson 175 HP outboard. He says it is good condition, has all new seats & the engine runs excellant but he has no title to the boat. He siad he just doesn't have the time to persue the title & just wants to get rid of the boat. My question(s) is this.

#1. Does anyone know anything about a Concord boat as I have never heard of them? Are they a good boat, still being made, safe etc etc etc. I have been unable to find much information about Concord Boats.

#2. What does one need to do in order to secure a title for a boat where the original title is lost?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes I feel as if I ask too many questions on this forum since I am a new comer but I just want to say everyone is very willing to help & I have certainly learned a lot in a very short time.

Different states - different laws. Just guessing from your moniker that you're in Virginia. You'll need a bill of sale, HIN number and previous registration. Can be done over the net - some info here :http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/forms/BOAT/BOAT-011.pdf

Around here (NJ) you would have to fill out the forms for a duplicate title and have the PO sign them assuming that he registered the vessel. The form may need to be notarized so before buying, make sure he's willing to work with you on getting the title and you may want to get that in writing.
