Initial mixture settings for 10HP Johnson

Hi Folks- I am new here, and need a little help to get this old boat running. I did the search, and found nothing pertaining to this topic. Its got a 10 HP Johnson "Sea Horse" Model # QD-18H. I need to know the initial mixture settings for the slow speed and fast speed mixture screws. I dont understand this stuff too much, my buddy is helping me and he will understand whatever you write back to me. Also- If anyone knows how to change the oil in the outdrive/lower unit on this motor, I looked and cant find any kind of drain plug or anything. Thank you guys so much for the help, and for understanding that everyone starts somewhere with the boating experience!

Mike,GENTLY turn the mixture screws in all the way.Then turn low speed out 1 1/2 turns, high speed out 3/4 turn.With engine warm take it for a high speed run set to best.Then set slow speed to best.You may need to remove knobs for initial setting.There are 2 large flat head screws on the lower unit.Top one is vent,bottom is drain.Dont remove any other screws.Remove<br />bottom screw then top,let drain.If oil appears like coffee with cream you may have seals leaking.<br /> Should be replaced.Fill through drain hole till oil comes out vent hole.Replace vent screw then drain screw.Your motor is a 57 you should get a manual.Try NAPA,the tab at the top of this page,<br />amazon.com,ebay,etc.The library has manuals for reference.

Thank you very much for your help.. if this motor is a 57 is it a classic? Should I not be using it daily? I was planning on using the boat (which is a 66(i think) Crownline) for weekly fishing trips and that sort of stuff, but if this motor is a collectable type thing maybe I should buy a used motor that I don't feel bad using.
