HI all
I have no water coming from indicator hole. I have replaced impeller recently and the peehole was working fine. This has happened before i just gave it a quick hit with commpressed air and that fixed it. There seems to be a lot of water flowing from leg.
Is there anything else i can do to unblock it? I have tryed sticking wire up there but it hits somewhere inside..

Remove the hose back to where it connects to the motor. Then backflush with water or a piece of weed eater line in the hole.Make sure the hose is clear.Bugs like to lay their eggs in the small places.
Salt water corrosion can continue to block it.You might have to do some more dismanteling to get to the blockage.
Flushing after each use will help.J

Disconnect the tell tale from the top of the block and see if the fitting is blocked....... then at the same time blow out that piece of of hose.

Re: Inline 150hp no water coming from pee hole

I disconnected the tail from the block. I tryed to stick nylon wire up there. I tryed tie wire. Then i made up a attachment and blew commpressed air in there. Builds up to 60psi and still wont budge! Must be corroded bad inside.

Anymore ideas on what i can do? oh dear what have done :/

Re: Inline 150hp no water coming from pee hole

Isn't the fitting a brass pipe thread fitting that goes into the top of the block? I would unscrew it and see hat corrosion is in there. Here in this post #26 http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=394536&page=2 will show you what is under that water jacket cover. The fitting should be going through the top of the water jacket head close to the #1 cylinder.

Be careful that using TOO MUCH compressed air could destroy a seal.

I know that the timing belt needs to be repaired first to start the motor. I would start it and monitor the temperature by a very scientific method...... Use your hand. If you do not see water circulation or feel it getting hot......... you will need to drop the lower unit and check the impellar that was installed.

I destroyed an impellar on a 115 is less than 1 minute while I was testing a prop ......they will self destruct fast!

Just as an added not..... I do NOT trust the pee hole and ALSO install a water pressure gauge. That is what saved me when I destroyed my impellar was the gauge that showed loss of pressure.

That sucks!! The pee is just an indicator. If the impeller is new and the motor not overheating,I'd run it.
Removing any fittings at this stage might cause more damage than you can repair. That motor is pretty old and trying to remove ANY parts could be costly.
Test the overheat sensor and then use it.The back of the motor has relief ports.Look there while it's running and see if water is comming out the back.I have Force motors and that's how I tell if they are pumping.

Jerry, That motor does not have an overheat sensor. The telltale elbow should be plastic, and will unscrew easy from the block. If he cannot force air thru that fitting, he has some serious issue, as the block is an open circuit.

Yeah all the vanes were in tact. Sounds like theres some bad corrosion going on. I have never had really good water pressure. The pee hole always seems to block easerly. Should i make a test tank and run some type of solution though it? Bit worryed about pulling it down and bolts spanning off in the block. This motor got reconditioned 6 years ago. Surely the block got acid. Its got 135psi across all cylinders.

Bob_vt i cant see a brass fitting at the top of the block only halfway down.. mmm

Where i have the screwdriver is where there was a massive buildup of coral,sand.. hopefully thats all it was. The waterpump is in good shape..

Re: Inline 150hp no water coming from pee hole

very interesting post, i too have the exact motor - ive got water coming from the indicator hole, but its not alot, and judging by other outboards ive seen there should be a reasonable amount, at idle its almost dribbling out??!! new impellar?? or maybe similar to this post - will check the lines an see if there are any blockages or setiment buildup.

anyway i just thought id jump onboard as this is very useful info.

PS. if where the water travels through the motor is anything like the inside of my starter motor then no doubt its more than likely a build up of osme sort. thank god they make after market starters, the original was over $800 nz, after market only $350 and is identical :)
