inline 6 with no spark to#1,3,5

cant seem to figure out why I have no spark to cylinders 1,3,5, but have spark to 2,4,6, tested the coils there good the top cdi has cylinders 1,2,3 on it and the bottom has 4,5,6 it seems weird that both cdi's would go bad at the same time there has got to be something in common with the cylinders 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 I am so baffled it's crazy, thanks meggy

not sure about a merc but i know omc has a shift interrupt switch on linkage that shuts down the spark on half the motor to avoid banging into gear.hope that helps

not on this old motor....1-3-5 is going to be a switch box but you should test the system before replacing any electical part. Mallory switch boxes are $100 less than half of Merc and made in Germany....

what i cant figure out is that 1 & 3 are on the top cdi and 5 is on the bottom cdi ,would both cdi's go at the same time just like that,leaving 1 cylinder sparking on one and two sparking on the other ? thanks meggy

+1 for Mallory switch boxes, which is most likely your problem.

thanks everyone I figured you all would probably know so I bought two switch boxes and all cylinders are firing thanks again
