Hey guys, I recently installed an inline fuel filter between my fuel pumps and my carbs, though the engine seems to run "ok" in the driveway, I notice the inline filter (clear glass type) doesnt fill with fuel. I had one on my 89 85hp and it always seemed full of fuel.....now when its running, it seems to fill about half way and then go down a bit...this repeats while running. I only take the boat to canada once a year so I cant really lake test it. Does it seem at all normal for the filter not to be full when running? My concern is a fuel delivery problem. Pumps were rebuilt last year...new fuel lines and bulb...and also just installed a water seperator.

any input?

It happens a lot. Sometimes because of position, they get an air bubble that will not be pushed out. Sometimes, eventually it will work out, sometimes not. As long as the engine will run up to normal RPM, it is getting enough fuel.

I have the same filter in mine and it also gets an air bubble. Nothing to worry about.
