Inner and Outer transom plate removal

I've pulled the motor out of my old Tin boat, the outdrive and the bellhousing & bellows. Now, all that is left is the stuff that is hanging or bolted down or to the Inner transom plate. Like say the trim pump and it's hoses.
1st the trim pump. Where should I remove the hydraulic hoses? the lift cylinders and let them drain out to a pan? then pull them and the trim pump out?
Can anyone out there give a guy some advice as to what to remove first and 2, 3rd etc?

I'd much appreciate the advice and hope to get it removed tonight after work if I can. Then remove the rotton transom plywood.....

TIA!

Remove the exhaust tube, disconnect the steering cable, disconnect and tag any wires. you can either disconnect the trim pump hoses from the pump or leave them hooked up and remove the pump and transom assembly as one piece (if you have some help) remove the nuts holding the inner plate on and remove the outer.

This may help. http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser1.html#/0

Great Link! Took a while to get it loaded and sort thru it but I think I have it now that I've stared at the inner plate last night and can visualize a few things now.

One more question.... So once I take those bolts out of the inner plate, is the stuff still on the outside going to fall off to the ground? Gimble ring etc?

Mucho Gracias again!

Ayuh,... The Whole outer assembly will be loose, but I've never seen it fall to the ground,...

It usually takes abit of tuggin' to get it off...
