inner transom plate

will a 70's- 80's 470 model transom plate(mercruiser) work with mercruiser inline 6 gimbal &outdrive or does inline 6 have its own design inner transom plate?

has more to do with the width of the rear mounting bolts.
early were 12 ish and later are 9 ish.

so what your telling me is as long as my bolt holes match width wise with the 4 cyl plate i can be use it with 6 cyl set up right ? also do you mean holes thru transom for gimbal or where bellhousing bolts are vertical to mate engine?
