All switches Temp and oil pressure will be connected with a single Tan/Black wire

Temp sender is connected with a single Tan wire

Check for 12V and a ground at the gauge. If power and ground is there, then take the Tan wire and ground it. Grounding should cause the meter to peg Hot

Always good idea to let folks know what your working on, otherwise it might be a chain saw. I'm assuming its a 4.3 GL because of the tags, but could use more info

Is the gauge not showing the motor is heating up or the motor is not heating up?

The body of the sender needs to be grounded, some times people add too much PTFE tape or the like and it is isolated ie. not grounded/earthed worth checking.
