inpeller problem

hi all i have a problem with my mercury 60hp 1994 mod i put a new inpeller in today and it pumps for 2 min then starts pumping air when the gear box was of i put a hose pipe up the mid section and i pumped good as gold but when i put the lower unit back on and put it in a drum of water it pumped for 2 min then stoped i took it all back of to make sure the key way was in ok and it was all ok can any 1 help me many thanks mark

Hi,
I have no idea but did you check the poppet valve and thermostat.
I don't remember if that one has a head gasket or not. If it does
it could be leaking.
