So, if you buy a motor that was used in salt water and want to clean the water jacket what will you use? Is this something that is regularly done? I can take the motor apart and clean every part of the water jacket that I have access to but I rather avoid opening a motor just for that... I did cleaned everything I could when I replaced the thermostat but wanted to clean as much as I could. I dont see myself taking this boat to salt water, so maybe the constant use in fresh water will loose up the build up? I doubt that...

salt away stops the salt, but the damage is already done. you can open it and remove scale, but probably not worth it.
