hey guys, i have a 1986 larson citation bowrider with a 140 hp 3 liter mercruiser and an alpha 1 outdrive. i had a serious over heating issue and wound up having to replace the exhaust bellows, water cooling hose, impeller and water pocket. i found out last nite i will also be needing exhaust shutters. i am just curious if there is anything else i should be inspecting that may have been affected by the overheating. Im going to take her out this weekend and it would really suck if i missed something. thanks for the input. i couldnt have done any of those jobs without this site!!! :)

check any and all wiring in the engine compartment that is near the engine, i have seen whole wire harnesses melted from overheating

if you really cooked it you may have runnability issues (head gasket, cracked head, etc...) - a quick compression test on a warm engine will give clues to condition

with the throttle plates open you should see no more than 15% difference across all cylinders

i have also heard that exhaust passages being clogged with rust can be a factor in overheating and my cause problems. where should i check for this problem?
