Install pull cord 9.5HP

I have seen other posts where "Alcan" has sent intructions via Email on installing pull cords on 9.5 Hhp Evinrudes. Mine is a 1969 model 9922S. <br />Could someone be so kind as to Email instructions to me on installing a new pull cord.<br />My email addr is john_goetz@hotmail.com <br /><br />Also, I was planning to buy a Sierra 18-4904 Universal starter rope and handle..... any thoughts?

u can get a pull cord and handle from walmart for abut 2 buxs thats all i use on my motors they work very well. as for directions its pretty straight forward but i think if u dont have a manual this is a good time to get 1

Thanks Wayne, I've dug around the internet looking for manuals, I see there are manuals by other than OMC that cover quite a few years of OMC motors. Any opinion on whether thay will suffice or should I only consider an OMC produced manual.<br />Also, the reason I didn't want tackle the Starter cord without instructions is that I see there are a lot of posts regarding the rewind spring and I didn't want to do anything that would mess that up.

get a factory manual for the 9.5 they are usually pretty cheap on ebay. i would stick with the facory manuals because there is quiet a bit of tricks for linkage on the 9.5's. as far as recoil spring for the 9.5 there is not 1 that will unwind it looks like a real spring and will not come apart like the usual recoil springs used in other motors. maybe this pic on this sight will help u understand it better <br /><br /> http://www.ishopmarine.com/ishop/js...011~M0017039~M0017040~C0252102&pCode=C0253184
