I am new to outboards and the Internet was not much help on finding the info that I needed.
I just bought a 74 15HP Evinrude and replace the water pump in it and also burned up the new water pump.
I didn't have a problem doing it again but I wanted a way to find out that the water was going into the system and this outboard did not have a water indicator so I installed one in place without taking the power head off.
I am not completely done I have the final touch ups to do but it works great and the cost was 5 dollars for the indicator valve, I had everything else.
For me I had an 1/8" 90 or what some call an elbow for 1/4 poliflow.
This was a push lock fitting that swiveled so I was able to put it on in the tight location.
I also had the drill, bits, and a tap.
I still need the right tubing and a plug for the hole I made.
If anyone is interested in pictures I can post some later.

This was easy to do and to start out I used a small bit and drilled a hole in the desired location, basically after looking at pictures of water flow I picked the general area that the newer outboards that are the have have it installed.

After drilling the small hole I ran water to see if I got the right location and it was good so I continued by drilling the bigger holes and taping and installing my fitting.
I ran the water as I drilled and taped to wash the metal back out of the hole.
Anyway if I messed up I would have plugged the hole by tapping for a screw or used JB weld to seal it shut.
For those of you that want the pee hole it can be done.
