Have just tried installing a Lowrance LMS- 334c iGPS to my boat. Hace got the unit up and running but it won't acquire its position. Sounder is working fine but not sure if i have hooked up the GPS section correctly.

Unit has a NMEA2000 Buss????? Not sure what this is but is it supposed to be connected to the battery power??

Any help appreciated,

Cheers Paul

Re: Installing a Lowrance GPS/Sounder

The NMEA is a built in software protocol to allow other units to interface (fuel gauge, speed etc etc etc). There is no separate connection, it is built in.

The first thing i would do is recheck all connections. Then download the latest software package for that unit.

Is it 'seeing' satellites? Maybe a hardtop is blocking the signal.

You have to "Power" the Buss or Network seperately, and it actually powers the GPS Puck Antenna. I believe it is a 3 amp requirement. Also, Lowrance recommends that you power it via a switch. I would recommend that you go to Lowrance's website "Downloads Section" for updating both the Antenna and the LMS unit. And be very careful to follow their download sequence instructions to the letter, i.e., update the Antenna First and foremost.:D
