Installing a tell tale on 1975 115HP

After totally rebuilding a 77 70HP using excellent advice from this forum, I have bought a cheap 75 115HP. I am doing th eusual compression, spark timing checks & would also like to install a tell tale. Is it possible to drill a hole and tap a thread into the exhaust plate? If so how would I do this? I want to do this so it is easy to see if the water is pumping ok.

I'm pretty sure I recall a thread or two about this particular project. Try looking through the "Top Secret" sticky at the top of this forum.
