Installing a Thru-Hull Transducer in Maxum 1800SR

I have a 2003 Maxum 1800SR (4.3L I/O) and would like to install a depth finder and thru-hull transducer. I have already installed the Humminbird HR610 in-dash depth finder, but am looking for advice on installing the transducer. Anyone out there who has one installed in a similar boat with thru-hull transducer? Mainly I am interested in the location and method of installing it and also, the results?

I have one of those Humminbirds in my 17.5 ft bowrider. To find the best spot to mount the transducer, I put a few inches of water in the bilge and went out on the lake. I moved it around the bilge and held it down with a sandbag. I tried several different spots until I found the one I thought would pick up the best. I went home, drained and dried the bilge and mounted the transducer with the provided epoxy.

I have a 1900 SC and it comes with a built in transducer. It is located in the bildge. There are lots of guides online that will tell you where and where not to mount it. From what I have read you want to keep as far stern as you can towards the centerline, also you will want to make sure it isn't angled.

You intend to use a faring block, do you not?
