Hi,
I have a 1998 Mercury 125 HP 4 Cyl and would like to install a trim gauge on my dash. I have a Merc harness that is currently connected to my tach and has 2 extra wires for the trim connection. Does anyone know if I need a sending unit on the motor or is there one on there already? The wiring instruction that came with the harness shows how to wire it, but states "(V6 only)"
Thanks,
Tom

I just replaced mine, 2002 125 Mercury. The sending unit is located under the motor, if you trim it way up then you can see the point where the motor is mounted there is a rod and that is where it mounts, hard to explain but mine had a ground wire and one brown and white striped wire. If you need the instructions, I still have them and I can scan and send them to you. Mine was not listed as having a trim sender but it was on the boat when I bought it new so I don't know if yours has the screw holes for the sender or not but I doubt it has the sender on the motor, I would guess no gauge no sender.
