Is this something that is very difficult. I can't see it being harder tha putting a car or motorcycle engine in. Also, does Merc, Johnson, etc. have different hole patterns that they use to mount the motors to the transom? I'd be looking to switch out a late 60's Merc with a late 60's Johnson. If this is a difficult task that should be left to teh true experts, what type of costs is involved? Thanks

It's not hard.

Yes, those two engines mount differently.

I your case, it's just a case of making sure you have all the right cables/connections, etc.

it is not a really difficult thing to do, just very time consuming, which is why it costs a fair amount of money, there is heaps of cables and holes and stuff so it takes a lot of effort, providing both motors are the same shaft length and you get the correct size cables for the new motor, it should only take a weekend, or, a good few of hours for a professional
