Installing carburetor core plugs

Do I need to compress these core plugs or is it ok to just push them in. <br /><br />They are just pushed into place in the picture.<br /><br />Carburetor is off a johnson 115 1976.

They need to be compressed flat Bill. If you look at them, they are concave. When you put them in, rounded side up, take a large flat punch and carefully flaten the rounded part. If you don't, they will fall out.
