My 78 SSV-176 has outdoor carpet and it's very rough to th touch, I don't like it. It is stapled as well, but has never moved so I would think it was OK.

Re: INSTALLING CARPET ON gLASTRON

I replaced the carpet in my Glastron SSV188- this last winter. The local big box home center sold several caprets with a marine backing by the foot. I used my old carpet pieces as a pattern and did all my cutting in my driveway. The carpet is glued to the floor with exterior grade carpet glue. I did use stainless steel staples in a few places. I get compliments all the time on how nice my carpet looks. As much as I am happy with how it turned out, I like dmarkvid2 idea of using something other than carpet. It is just a matter of time before I will be replacing again. Consider carpet alternatives.

Lowes has a decent selection of marine grade carpet and the glue to apply it. I used it on my fish and ski and have had no problems.
