Hello everyone,<br /><br />I would like to install a kill switch inline on the following motor 1966 Johnson v-4 60HP model vxl-12r. Which wires do I splice into on the ignition harness to have this work properly?<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Rob
Rob....look for a black/w white stripe wire going to the ignition switch. This is coming from the magneto. Put this to one side of the kill switch and run the other side of the kill switch to ground.
make sure the switch you buy is of the normaly open, some switches can be wired either way. magnetoes and most CDI systems take the coil primary or pack input to ground to kill. the merc phase maker was a bit different.<br /> follow OBJ's advice and wire the switch so with the lanyard removed its closed.
