I'm have installed new control cables on my
boat. I'm using a Johnson 40HP 93 Model with oil
injection. Need to know linkage setting for
spark advance and carbs. I have a SELOC Vol. IIA
repair manual ordered. Would like to get something going this weekend? Anyone care to
start me out

Re: Installing new control cables

Hey Herman, If you didn't move any linkage when you took the old cables off no adjustments should be required.
Put the shift lever in neutral put the shift cable on, make sure that the control box is in neutral, adjust the trunnion on the cable until it will slip into the hold down pocket. That one is done. Next is the throttle cable, pull the lever that the throttle cable hooks to from the bottom all the way foward, install the throttle cable while holding in this position adjust the trunnion on that cable till it fits in it's hold down pocket. Now instill theretainer over the trunnions, job done.
Oh by the way before you start to install the cables you can tell which is which by observing the ends while lifting the warm up lever on the control box, the one that moves is the throttle cable.
Have a good time
