I have recently removed the steering wheel from a circa 1965 Brunswick Valiant and have purchased a new Teleflex wheel. Can I reinstall it with the original setup or do I need to buy compatible components for the new wheel?

Re: Installing new steering wheel

Pictures would probably help, that being said...

most teleflex steering wheels simply slide down on a cone shaped shaft for the helm, and use a woodruff key to secure the wheel from spinning on the shaft, then a nut to hold it on....

If thats what your old system is, then you are ok, you may have to use your old nut though because threads/diameter may be different...

I was able to replace the existing wheel on my '66 with a new wheel. You shouldn't have any problems.
