Installing oil pump screen

So after trying different methods I was finally able to fit the new screen tube into my new oil pump. tried looking around for the actual installation tool but I couldn't find any places which had one, and autozone had one but not the correct size. I ended up using a wrench over the raised part of the tube and smacking that. The last 1/4 in would not go in. should I try taking it to a shop and have them seat it all the way or will it be fine with just a tack weld?

Take it back (like you have it) & ask them. "Does this look right to you"? I wouldn't weld it that way! Frankly, I don't think you hit hard enough. You weld it & your stuck with it!
