I ordered a sony marine cd player and 2 6.5inch marine speakers imma put on my bass boat with a 115ob. I was wondering if I need to buy a seperate battery to run this off of.. ie car batt or pwc/motorcycle batt or another marine batt..

Also My 1984 115 evinrude batt does not charge itself when motor is running right?? So should I have just one marine batt for the ob starting and two for trolling or just one and one?? Someone help donta wanna get stuck on the lake.. I go fishing for like 6-8 hrs at a time.. so alot of trolling use and starting and stoping..

The radio is gonna be my company it gets old talking to the gators and having a kill count on mosquitoes... Thanks!!!

Most larger outboards do have charging systems. Look for a rectifier connected to some wires from under the flywheel. The rectifier will then connect to the starter solenoid or som other source of +12VDC. A better test is to start the motor on the flusher and put a voltmeter on the battery. If the voltage increases as you rev the motor up a bit (stay under 2KRPM), the charging system is working.

A standard audio system will not require a second battery, especially if you are trolling.
