I'm installing boysen reed in my 140, I also can't find my instructions that came witn them. I know to jet the idle air jet 5 sizes smaller to richen the circiut, but on the base of the reeds are a strip of metal, does this sit against the reed body or against the metal plate that holds the reeds to the cage.

Against the reed body. Have you worked the reed cages flat so the reeds will set dead flat against the reed cages? This is a very important step in the installation.

Use the bars that came with the reeds. Also, try and get the reeds centered over the reed cage ports.

The bars are called "rev plates(???)". Do NOT reinstall the reed stops.

The bars may have a sharp side. We try to install those away from the fiber reed. Probably not necessary but...

Boysen reeds are the best investment I made with my outboard.
I am sure you wont be disappointed, especially with the idle to midrange.
One other small tidbit. Dont forget to lock-tite the screws that hold the reeds.
Good luck.
