Ok...i am finally burying my 1972 johnson tha has caused me nothing but trouble and alot of money... i am putting on a new...used motor...marine shop is doing it...power trim, etc.... but they called and said there is nowhere to put the controls... my old johnson had a box...simple mount to the side rail... voala... i didn't lood that closely at the controller on the boat that this motor is coming from, but it seemed like the control arm was attacthed directly to the side rail...no box... i guess i thought there was a box underneatth the vinyl and i could simply mount it... does anyone know how i would go about mounting it...the shop is goiing to mount everything, trip switch , ignition etc...but will leave thee controlls hanging there for me to figure out how to mount it... any ideas???? i hope this is clear for peoople... i am going away on a family vacation saturday and need to get this done...and i don't care how it looks, only that it's mounted and works...
tx for all your ideas...

Re: Installing remote controls...HELP

You didn't mention make/model/year of the replacement motor.

I suspect you will have to match a new controller to whatever the new motor needs and probably have to get new control cables as well.
