installing the drive with new gaskets

So I'm installing my alpha 1 gen 2 drive. I have this gasket set.

On the bell there is the big black ring in the drive bellow and the water inlet gasket that has some sort of adhesive...

Can I use this as an adhesive?

If not, what do I use?


Lastly...are the little orange seals for the drive shaft? I see 3 o-ring on the shaft...I assume so, but want to ask

Never used amazing goop. Somebody will probably chime in to say you "can" use it, but I believe Merc says you "should" use bellows adhesive. Bellows adhesive is nice to have around anyway if you're going to be working on it yourself, but your call.

Big o-ring for water inlet.

3 smaller o-rings for shaft.

Ayuh,... Don uses bellows adhiesive for the Big o-ring, 'n the water passage o-ring...

I use a big ole gob of Grease myself,....
Ya just gota be alittle more careful it stays put that's all...

Bond-o...kinda funny you say grease....I normal lubricate o rings (auto world)...

glue'ing them sounds alien to me.

I'm with Bondo on a glob of grease on the water o-ring. More fun that way anyhow.

Kewl, I think Bondo made his own special formulation of grease, but I can't locate the picture at the moment.

I too use grease on the water passage o ring, but I glue the big black rubber ring in place. If you do not have bellows adhesive, you will find that 3M Weatherstip Adhesive is the same thing.
