Installing the Impeller

I have a new kit for my 150 HP Evinrude water pump. I have searched the forum and have not found any specific information on how one installs the new impeller so the arms all point in the proper direction. My impeller is real stiff and does not want to cooperate. I can get several arms in the right direction but others in the opposite direction. I have tried a cyinder ring compresor without much luck. Is there a trick to this?

Also, any advice on gasket sealers and anti-seize for gaskets and bolts? Are automotive products acceptable? Now about the hi viscosity grease the Seloc manual suggests for assembly of the drive shaft splines?

A little dish soap on the vanes and twist it in... regular moly grease will work for the splines...

Better yet, have a look here:

This is how I do it. Install the impellor on the driveshaft. Squirt a little liquid soap on the vanes, especially the top edges. Put the housing on and while turning the drive shaft clockwise push down on the housing. The vanes will bend as they come around and the housing will slip down into position.

I put a wire tie or two (depending on how big the impeller is) and start tightening it down. Bend the blades in the right direction as you tighten the ties. Once you have them small enough, slip the impeller onto the shaft and into the pump housing, then clip the wire ties off. Works great even for really big inboard water pumps.
