I am ready to install my new trim motor onto the trim/tilt unit of my 1984 evinrude. The trim motor mounts just above the filter for the hydraulic pump. The filter has a soft spongy gasket/seal? between the filter and the base of the new motor. The filter and gasket/seal ? are both in good shape. I plan to reinstall them. Does anyone see any problem here?
What is the function of the seal?. Is it to ensure that all of the hydraulic oil passes through the filter?
One other question. Once the motor in installed is it possible load in the hydraulic oil and test the operation on the bench? If so what is the procedure.
Thanks. Hope someone can answer my questions.
