I didn't see this question in my search so if I missed it I am sorry.
I am running a 1988 115 evinrude motor and I want to install tilt trim indication on my console. Can anyone tell me just what I will need to buy in order to do this. I know you will need a guage, and probably some type of sending unit but I don't know where to start. Just what is involved in adding this?
If you can help me please reply.
thanks
jimpittman

Re: Installing trim tilt gauge

jimpittman

You may already have a sender on the motor. Raise the lower unit and look for a small arm tucked in there that moves back and forth with a couple wires coming out of it. Usually on the port side of the motor bracket. If you don't find one, you will have to buy one and install it. A dealer would be the place to get it. As for the gauge, most any will work.(Teleflex, Ect) Wiring consists of one of the wires from the sender going to the sender terminal on the gauge, the other to ground. You will need a ground at the gauge and a hot ignition(Purple) wire to the ignition terminal. There is also a terminal for a backlight that you can tag of another gauge from. You may have to adjust the sender for proper readings.
