Re: Insulfoam
I used a few cans of HD/Lowes insulation foam on boat projects. It worked nice on a jon boat decking project as I chose a rigid type of foam. I used a different product while replacing a section of deck in my glass boat and chose the wrong type as it was not a rigid foam, it was a waterproof and soft type of foam. I didn't have problems with the glass boat deck, but when I ripped the deck out to remove all the other water logged foam I noticed it was not the right type of foam, not structurally strong.
If it's a small amount being used I guess it would work, but I would opt for 2 part pour foam over the canned insulation foam.
Remember, polyurethane insulation foam needs moisture to cure, no moisture = no cure. On my jon boat floors I misted both surfaces with water then applied the foam. 1 small section didn't get water misted on and the foam didn't cure, it shrunk into a blob of gooey uncured polyurethane that I cut out and refilled.
