I have a 91 omc 4.3 I'm am thinking about putting the 96+ vortec heads on with edelbrock 2114 Manifold which is for a 4bbl carb but I don't have the budget right now to buy a new carb, so would I be able to reuse my 2bbl carb on the manifold with an adapter?

Good thank you Scott! Also I have read a lot of different posts and I'm still not 100% sure about the camshafts between the auto and marine. I noticed in my OMC Repair manual that the lobe lift for the cam in my engine is .234int/.257exh but doesn't give duration. I looked up a replacement cam for an 89 s10 from typical auto parts store (autozone) which gave my the part number for a mellings cam (ccs-38) and gives the same lobe lift as my OMC Repair manual. So are these camshafts the same?

depends........

I wouldnt use Autozone for anything..... much less a camshaft. Mercruiser used Crane Cams in their motors, not sure if GM cam or Crane was used in the 4.3's

Generally a truck cam is similar enough to a boat cam. most RV cams are marine cams. gm MAY have well used the same truck cam (S-10's, etc) in the marine motors sole to OMG back then.

If I was replacing the cam and going with vortec heads, I would call up Crane or Comp Cams and get a decent cam.

here is a bit of reading on the 4.3 https://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...asting-numbers

I know what your saying there about autozone lol. I just used it to get a quick p/n for a stock grind cam for a chevy in the the years the engine was used. Thanks. Yeah I just came across it while I been reading up and just took notice that the lobe lifts were the same. Wasn't planning on changing it unless I had to. Thanks again

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.....

There's a pretty good chance the doghouse/ motorbox cover won't fit on anymore,....
That adapter raises the top of the carb, What, 2" or more,....

Ya might oughta scrape up the cash for a Edlebrock 1409, 'n be done with it,....
