Intake Manifold Gasket

I just tried to order a new intake manifold gasket for my '83 Mercruiser 229 V6 engine and the boat shop informed me that Mercruiser did not have this gasket. They told me to try an auto parts store for this gasket, my question is: Can I use an automotive (truck) gasket in this situation or am I inviting trouble? Thanks for the help!

dgregg, there should be no difference between an automotive intake manifold gasket and a marine use gasket. You are probably confusing it with the head gaskets. Marine head gasket have copper rings around the cylinders for corrosion resistance but there are no metalic components in an intake gasket.
