I have a 1994 searay 7.4 bavo 3 drive I just got back from local boat store and the guy said his pc shows 2 intake gaskets bravo 1-2 and bravo 3??? for a intake gasket.. and that it was $167 now that does not sound right.. My Engine Serial # is f282049
just looked up some gaskets but there appears to be a few diff styles and none of them say they 100% fit? What gasket do i need to get? When i look it up from 1 site i put my serial number in it says OEM MerCruiser Intake Manifold Gasket Set Zz 27-8M0050225 is this right?

Thanks.

your motor is a 1991-1995 Gen V BBC motor. Mercruiser used two heads (depending on power output) rectangular port or oval port. 310hp and 330 hp should be oval port, the higher hp versions would be rectangular port

there are two types of gaskets, an oval port or rectangular port (to match the head)

got a picture of your old gasket? are the intake holes oval or rectangular (yes, its that simple)

BTW, a Felpro intake gasket set will be about $30 from your local auto parts store.

You should find another parts guy if he was talking about intake gaskets for any Bravo drive.

Sadly its the only decent boat place near me only other one is west marine and we all know thats a joke. I try to order online when possible. In this case I was just trying to get it done but clearly didnt work out.

and i thought i had to use marine gasket?

Ayuh,...... Not so much anymore,...... Back in the day, automotive head gaskets were steel,.......

Now a days, most all automotive, And marine gaskets are composite, rather than steel,.......
Today, the only steel in an automotive head gasket is the fire-ring, while marine head gaskets use ssteel for the fire-ring,......
It's less of a big deal, 'cause the fire-ring, Should never see any water, anyways,.....

So,...... Other than head gaskets, there's little to no differences 'tween automotive, 'n marine gaskets,.....
Just be sure to buy Quality name brand gaskets,......
Fel-pro, 'n Victor are a couple of the Better brands,......

Ok Thanks I always try to stick to felpro when possible. I learnt the hard way many times about cheapo gaskets.

Yes.. I am asking what intake I should get there is tons of makes/brands...I see them range from $200-$900.. should I just get another stock one? which would be manifold 6269318 that is whats on it now and has a crack or is there something better aftermarket/performance wise?
