Welcome to iboats!

You can buy one new right here.

Pretty pricey. How did you determine yours is bad?

Re: intake manifold?

when i got the boat the block had a whole in each side where the previouse owner did not winterize it, he had already sold the intake, carb and distributor off of it, i got another block and rebuilt it from the bottom up, now i am at the point where i need an intake to complete it, possibly a carb as well.

Well, I guess there are no two ways about it- you need an intake manifold. See if you can find a boat salvage operation. Fortunately, these are extremely common engines (and share many parts with the bigger brother 5.7L).

Try these guys,
Lanier Marine Liquidators
106 Henry Grady Highway
Dawsonville, GA 30534
866-607-6616
I have not used them but they seem to have a lot of used boats and parts.

It's just a 305, you should be able to use any aluminum intake. The OMC intake in the link appears to be an edelbrock or GM performance parts equivilant

88 Should be non-vortec heads. Vortec is generally 96 and up

Re: intake manifold?

i tried a regular SB chevy intake but the heads that are from the boat are screwy or something, the 2 center bolts on each side in the middle are flat, the other ones around the outside are at an angle, all the outside bolts will bolt up but the ones in the middle of the intake(2 on each side, directly across from the carb)wont bolt in at an angle, have to go straight in, i could just do the outside bolts but i am sure the gaskets would blow, so i am searching for another intake.

Sounds like you got a pre 1987 intake the last time. You need to get one made for 1987 - 1995

1987 ? The valve cover surfaces were changed such that cylinder head mounting lip was raised and the bolt location was moved from 4 bolts on the perimeter, to 4 bolts down the centerline of the valve cover (this design debuted on the Corvette in 1986, and Chevrolet 4.3 L the year before). Also changed were the mounting angles of the center 2 bolts on each side of the intake manifold (from 90 degrees to 73 degrees) and the lifter bosses were increased in height to accept roller lifters. The alloy heads for use in the Corvette still retain the non-angled bolts (center 2 bolts attaching to the intake). Also all carburetors were done away with and replaced by TBI (throttle-body injection) fuel injection on the Camaro & Firebird.
