Interchangable power heads

I have a 1982 115 rude with low comp.I can buy an older powerhead rebuilt.I think it is a few years older because the cover is white and mine is light blue.Are certain years interchangable?????Charlie

Personaly I would rebuild what you have. But every V4 crossflow from 1978 on will bolt up. The 1977 140 from a 25" model will too. To get the large center main journal crank, use a 1979 or newer.<br /><br />Tried a decarb job?<br /><br />The white one was probably a Johnny.

You are right,I looked right at it and didnot realize it was a johnson.I tried a decarb with no change.I can pickup this powerhead for 500$ and I am told it was professionally rebuilt carbs and all.actually it is almost a complete motor.charlie
