interchange powerheads

will the powerhead of a 1996 johnson 48 hp (J48BESLED) work on a 1983 johnson 50 hp (J50BELCTA)? I noticed the PWHD-ADAPT GASKET are the same . Thanks John

Nope, both are 44.9 ci motors but crankshaft is different...
