Newbie trying to get in trouble buying an older boat..!

Interesting used aluminum boat on older trailer, a problem trailer.
That is, severe corrosion in places (wheel, spring leaf, roller oscillating short beams). and driving off as-is looks chancy.

Option 1: move on to next boat-trailer combo?

Option 2: Buy it and somehow get it home (10 mi. away), THEN lift boat off trailer and hunt for parts?

Problems:
Getting home: seller is not going to do it for me
Need to learn technique to slip trailer from under boat (relatively easy on an internet web page!)
Cost of new fitted hubs, wheels, springs - there is a very good trailer parts dealer nearby

Extra notes:
My trailering will be minimal, five miles max to ramp, into saltwater.
The deal would have to be sweet. That is a lot of wrenching on rusted parts right of the start. A lot of weird looks from spousal unit...!

What do you say?

How big/heavy a boat are we talking about? If it is a little aluminum boat then just rent a car trailer and pull the junk trailer up on it so you can bring it home.

Good idea but 18' plain aluminum boat, a bit long, both boat and trailer for this to work.

That should work fine - 20ft deckover trailer would do it. Either that or just pay a tow company to load it up and bring it home for you on a flat bed.

Well, reviewing detailed pictures I took, a cross beam looks like it has a crack in heavily corroded area, where roller assembly attaches... No way I can work with that!.
An other day, another lesson. I enjoyed learning about slipping trailer from under boat though!

Sounds like a good reason to get an even better deal from the seller and then find a good used trailer for it.

Agreed. Hull in good shape and you like the boat it may be easier and cheaper to find another trailer than to try and rebuild the one it's on.

Well, I reported my findings to seller, who has an other boat+trailer, and see what he says...
Boat is an Lund SSV-16, 25 HP Yamaha, BTW.
Simple, light, maybe a bit big for my quiet bay needs.
