Interesting encounter at WalMart

I stopped by the local WallyWorld to buy a few things and there was a mildly developmentally disabled gentleman in line in front of me. Pleasant and friendly fellow, and probably living independantly. He had about a dozen small items, some taxable. He told the cashier to the penny what the total would be before she hit the button. She hit it and sure enough he was right on. He calculated in his head the exact amount. But when it came time to pay, he had a Dickens of a time counting the money. I don't know why I put this here. I just thought it was interesting.

This sometimes happens to people after a stroke or some types of head injury. The part of the brain gets damaged and the part that deals with abstract thought becomes stronger,

My FIL is like that only kinda in reverse.
He can't add nothing, but he knows how much money he has in his billfold.
