So i was having real problems keeping my boat on plane at slow speeds i even went down to a 19 prop and still could only hold the boat on plane at about 22, since I do lots of wakeboarding i was wondering what to do, I didnt want to sacrifice my top end and go to an even flatter prop and i really didnt want to spend 700$ on trim tabs So i talked to the local shop here and he suggested a plate that bolts to my leg and lifts the back end of the boat up. Not only did this decrease my on plane speed from 22 to about 16 I get up on plane probably twice as fast (not that i ever had trouble with my 350) but i would strongly suggest this for someone that likes to do a lot of skiing or wakeboarding but has a hard time getting out of the hole or, like me needs a slower on plane speed. The brand was stingray and i cant remember exactly what this was called but im sure there are plently of people on here that know what im talking about

$700.00 for trim tabs:eek:
The Stingray that your talking about is a Hydrofoil.
Check out and read threads here about the trim tabs and hydrofoils, Hydrofoil works well for some, but most are taking off the whale tail and converting to the trim tabs, read up on some of the stories and see what works better for you, Trim tabs would probably the way to go for what you are doing http://www.iboats.com/Nauticus_SX_Smart_Tabs/dm/view_id.352485--dz.54646.

Re: Interesting Info

That hydrofoils is a complete POS that should be banned on any I/O capable of 40+mph. How does your boat handle now at higher speeds now? Durring an abrupt turn (evassive maneuver style), now add a little chop to the water surface. Now make sure you insurrance is paid up and hold on for dear life.

Who told you that smart tabs didn't work well? The guy that sold you the superfoil? Did he also have a 4' spoiler and 22's on his Kia????

The early smart tab SX's did have an issue with mount breakage but were quickly redesigned. Nauticus was also on the spot replacing peoples broken tabs with the upgraded units. The regular SS smart tabs have always been trouble free.

BTW - Smart tabs don't cost anywhere near $700, only slightly more than that eye candy, drive breaking, shin cutting wing you got. They also reduce the slow speed wander common to vhulls.

Re: Interesting Info

I only used the 23p once for wakeboarding, not that the boat had any problems pulling out of the water just 24mph is pretty quick when your jumping 5 to 8' in the air...probably the wrong place for this topic though..i think this sight might be bad for me..u know the kinda bad when your wife is standing in front of u in sexy lingerie and u can't wait to read the respones you got on your thread..lol

Re: Interesting Info

I ran mine once without the foil, got a good look at the bow and the sky, but that was all.
