I have a 1978 Tompson Winner bowrider with a Mercruiser Inline 6, 250 Cu engine. New Starter installed last year. New distributor, distributor cap, new points, condenser, plugs etc. The engine starts beautifully and runs well. After running it when I try to restart it it labors but then will turn over and start. If often turns slowly the first try, then on the 2nd or third try it speeds up. It does always start. If it sits for a while (ie cools down?) it turns over quickly and fires right up. The alternator is putting out 14.38 V to the battery consistently at idle. Once it does start the amp meter runs high for a little bit then returns to normal.
