what is a L drive.i have a 1991 90hp force on a 19' bayliner capri.<br />& do i have thru hub exhaust,over hub exhaust or both 
<br /><br />i put my boat in the shop on feb. 20 for a check up. i winterized my self "drained lower unit oil" and told'em to fill it up. they failed to do so and when i took out my boat it started to sqeek.<br /><br /> after finding out the problem i filled it.<br />the nexed time i took out my boat a shaft broke in my lower unit.<br /> i take it back to the shop he says he cant rember if he put oil in it or not & if he did the seals are bad and it could have drained out.or while in water it will pump out oil and pump in water and rust the berrings causing them to lock up & break the shaft.<br /> he asked if i replaced the bad oil w/new when i winterized,couse if i didnt moisture could rust the berrings.he also sayed fishing line was around lower unit.<br /> the berrings locked up & broke the shaft i think its becouse it was ran with no lower unit oil,but the seals are bad some water gets in.<br /><br /> my boat has been in & out of this shop for 7 months or so. i put it in the shop becouse it got to the point it wouldnt hardly plane out with 1 person last year.i was told one of the cylnders had no compresion. so i had the engine bored & rebuilt,new pistions/rings,rod berrings,carb kit and 2 guages fule,speedomator.<br /> <br /> they told me one of the workers must have droped something down in the engine when apart. be couse when they started it it busted my block!<br /> <br /> but they paid for the repairs just a delay...<br /> <br />june 25,<br /> they finished the engine for the 2nd time. but no speedomator oh well.the nexed day my wife and i tryed it out.and it dies when its put in gear,i have to take throttle half way to get going then back it off? it also started over heating & the squeeking noise started.<br />back to the shop.<br /> new impeller,thermostat. over heating stops.and he said he didnt hear a sqeeking noise.<br /><br />sat. july 3 big weekend,good thing we brought the jet ski.that sqeeking noise was my berrings locking up.and it broke my shaft on the lower unit!!!!!still in the shop,bad year for boating.<br />$1,400 bucks & 7 months & only 1 of 2 gauges.<br /> rebuilt engine & carbs,boat die's when put in gear,& the boat ran faster last year on 2 cylnders and they broke my lower unit & engine block.
