I was out fishing the other day in the bay, near the inlet, and decided it was getting a bit boring, so i'd give the ocean a shot. So, i hopped in the channel got on plane and underway. As another boat was approaching my bow coming from the opposite way, I steered right to give him room. Well, I turned the wheel slightly right, but the boat decides it wants to take a hard left...yea. So, i end up almost colliding with this guy while we were both doing about 25 mph.
Turns out my hydraulic steering arm broke off its mounting point between the two rudders. It was a quick fix with an extra bolt laying around. Its a good thing i have a twin engines or I woulda been in quite a pickle.
I decided to stay in the bay that day, saw it as a bad omen to stay away from the ocean
