Some of the stories you hear an see at the boat yard.

The first is a story related to me by a friend who is a mechanic at the yard. Last weekend, he got a call from a new boat owner that had filled his boat with water and needed help. My friend sent his assistant to help the boater. When he got there, the plug wasnt installed, so he showed the guy how to install the plug. While he was doing that, the assistant noticed the bellows had a large crack. The guy would not be talked out of taking his wife and kids out on the lake, cracked bellows and all. My friend didnt know how the story ended because his assistant left.

The second story, is just as unsettling. I was at the boatyard to get a part and there was a 22' foot or so boat arriving. My friend was helping unhitch the trailer, so I kibitzed and watched. This guy had 4 ratty looking tires on the trailer, the winch belt was an old rotten one that was torn in a couple of place and he had tied a knot to the hook on the end.

The really scary part was the hitch, it was bolted closed and he didnt realize it. He had been leaving the ball/receiver in the hitch and backing the truck up to it. My friend undid the bolt and most of the hitch fell loose.

I would really hate to follow that clown down the road.
