Intermittent Alarm

We recently purchased a 2007 Bayliner 195 with a 5.0L Merc engine. We had the boat out for the first time on Saturday and again today. On both occasions, an alarm (similar to the start-up alarm) would sound. Sometimes the alarm sounded in short beeps and other times a long, continuous alarm. The oil pressure and temperature gauges read "normal". We experimented with altering the trim settings today, but that seemed to make little difference. However, the alarm seemed to trigger mostly when throttleing down, just prior to the nuetral position. Other times, the short beeps occurred while at around 3/4 throttle position. The water was choppy both days and our boat bounced around a little. At times, the alarm seemed to correlate with the chop, but mostly unrelated. The gear oil reservoir was recently filled and has the appropriate amount of oil. Any suggestions, thoughts, etc?
