intermittent spak?

1970 60hp evinrude triumph. has good spark on 1st and 3rd cylinders. intermittently on
2nd cylinder. where should i begin? also is the amplifier the samething as a "powerpack" thanks

Swap the wire to the coil with the top or bottom (not the plug wire) and see if the spark is better on a diff. coil. If not could be powerpack.

marineengine.com has diagrams of your motor...look under the distributor group...you don't have an ignition system with a powerpack...try outboardbooks.com or ebay for a factory service manual...clymer and seloc manuals may not be specific enough for your motor... I personally can't offer you a starting point for diagnosing this ignition

You only have one coil on that mtr which goes to the distributor cap. You could have bad coil, dist cap or amplifier. There is a test procedure to check this system out and found in the OEM factory service manual.
