I just experienced intermittent start function with Quicksilver control box. I could jump across the start selonoid to keep fishing over the weeked, and at times use the ignition switch. Where do I start ;) looking, at the switch or at the wiring going to the starter selonoid?

carl I would start at the ignition switch, that was where my problem was, but yours could be different.

Re: Intermittent start with Quicksilver Control

H,

Problem solved. It turned out being a fuse in the starter circuit.

My boat mechanic told me about the yellow wire with red trace. After half-stepp testing the circuit, I homed in on the fuse. It had a hairline crack, hardly visible to the eye, but an ohm meter wasn't fooled.

The ignition switch is still 29 years old and getting a bit sticky. I may still replace it before it stays stuck, which would likely be on the water. Makes sense because I don't really use the boat on land.:D

Thanks for contributing.

BTW, having a manual made finding the fuse almost too easy. Advise to all, "get a manual."

That is great and I agree that EVERYBODY needs a manual for their motor, I don't care how small a motor it is.
